... the birthday-retirement party of our neighbour went better than expected. Hubby, suffering from the stress of having to endure warm temperatures combined with lots of humidity got chucked out of the house early, so that I was able to have a nice cup of coffee without being tempted to go through the roof. Only then I joined the party, meeting two more residents of our street, one of them daughter´s godmother. Hubby left around seven, to bring in son´s cats- he´ll have to do so only one more time from today on, because family number two is already on their way back home. I stayed, because I met a lot of nice people I was interested to talk to. Does not happen so often with me. Went back home at nine, had another glass of wine then and was up to the bedroom afterwards- I have to finally finish the current e-book, which is boring, boring, boring I must say. Weather had mercifully been nice to our neighbours, the scheduled rain had missed our area. I woke around midnight at the sound of thunder. People at neighbour´s were hard at work, bringing what was left of the buffet, glasses and the like into the house, accentuated by loud clashes of thunder. I did a first tour de loo, listened to the pitty-patty of rain then promptly fell asleep again. I woke to a blue sky but much lower temperatures. First thing hubby did when back from cat duty was pump off poolwater. Then he reported of a tree blocking the bikeway and the brook having flooded the main road. That must have been one hell of wine I did drink at the party- I noticed not the tiniest bit of the tempest going on! Then we looked over the pictures the wildlife camera had taken during night- Florence´s cat will only appear to get at the cat food when hubby is off. Tom cat lives up to his name- Gribouille means simpleton in French.
Hubby left soon after for a concert at the Festspielhaus. I did ponder what to cook and decided to do a Greek lunch- chicken and lemon rice. Best rice ever- will do it again soon for daughter, to broaden her cooking skills! The rest of the day got spent with after-lunch napping, then hubby sulking (it had started to rain again, so no cycling) and me reading and knitting. Tomorrow I will hopefully find something in the fridge for a simple lunch, because I will do what was supposed a comfort shopping tour on Saturday tomorrow morning. My guess for the next days is that family number two will park their offspring at our house, to get their household going again. And from next Monday to Wednesday family number three will make camp at our house on their way back from a Carinthian wedding. Apparently the hassle never ends...
