Car cleaning and some sun
Sep. 17th, 2024 07:12 pm Hubby was out all morning to clean his car, which is not dirty at all. Maybe he should have cleaned mine- not that I leave trash and the like in it, but hubby uses it as an all-time transporter for things our dear offspring will feel unable to dispose off at the rubbish tip. Hubby also had to drain his car. There was quite a lot of water on the bottom of the back row, no one has a clue how it got there. But (Psst, don´t tell others!) hubby often forgets to close the car windows properly. I vividly remember that he once did so with my old Sharan during a night of torrential downpour, and came back home from work constantly honking because of a a short. Hubby´s car will go to Lower Austria on Friday or Saturday, and will stay there for quite a while. Mine will go there, too, naturally, because we will need a car to get back home. Number two wants to come with us to help. I am so delighted- number two and three working next to each other- the two of them heve been born as best fiends! This time we will take pizza from my favourite pizzeria with us, not like last time, when hubby decided to skip it, because otherwise he would not have been in front of the TV in time, to see his favourite show. I had been so angry then that I did not talk to him the rest of the day... but not this time, dear husband!
Today was the first time the sun came back out of hiding. We are ecstatic- no more rain, no more cold. Not that we had had that much rain a they had in other parts of the country, but the cold was abysmal. When I got up at three in the morning, daughter was just getting out of the bathroom. Without my glasses (ready for wearing in the bathroom, so that I won´t disturb a sleeping hubby) I thought she was already dressed in her working uniform. Turned out that she had slept in sweats, a striped sweater and a dark cardigan similar to the one she wears at the airport. Daughter is easily cold, and I must be going blind!
Needless to say that I was tired all day long, as often when I have to get up so early. Son number three phoned twice, and the more he talks about the flooding the more I have to ask myself if he´d always been so quixotic. When I asked him why the hell they had not parked their cars next to his mother-in-law´s stable (100 metres away and around five metres higher than their house, but high enough to be off the watery hook, he said because the cars had a fully comprehensive insurance. I had to tell him that the money they´d get for the cars now would maybe be enough to buy a used middle class car and not a SUV and an e-car. And that one better should bring PCs, TVs and the like to the only room on the first floor of the house, when the flood is about to arrive. Oh yes, it must be a pleasure to live in a typical academic household. If I´d live there, I´d say Please, shoot me!
