That smell...
Oct. 25th, 2024 07:21 pm ...of cucumber was what woke me around two in the morning. I had dreamed of my daily salad pepped up with it. Don't get me wrong- I have always loved cucumber: tsatsiki, cucumber sandwiches, gazpacho I love to bits (or is it pieces?), only that I literally can't stomach it anymore. So dreaming of cucumber salad alarmed my senses, even when sleeping. I vaguely remember me shouting at husband mine, who is responsible for doing salads in our household. Hubby surely was not amused by getting called an idiot. Shortly after the first incident I woke again, because I was falling off the bed. Only that I wasn't. Merely my right calf had made it over the edge of the bed, but the slight dip did irritate me so much that I was wide-awake at four in the morning. Damn, do my dreams have to be so intense? About such ordinary things? Couldn't it be something special? A rejuvenating cure I found, a secret lover maybe? Nope, it's cucumbersalad and hubby. And falling out of the bed... sigh! I do not think that's what dreams are made for!
Hubby is through all the boxes with Halloween decoration. He really did a fine job- never seen him so enthusiastic about decorating! And since he is really tall he won´t need a step stool to affix garlands and the like. There's still a few velvet pumpkins in the cellar and one or two lanterns plus a wooden ghost figure, but we will send Cassian down to explore- he loves doing so!
Since
wiseheart mentioned Hungarian Aldi having baking items hubby and I did a trip over the border- Hofer sells those articles two weeks later, and they are always more expensive than in Germany. I bought myself a cookie cutter, dough cutter, tiny marshmallows and even tinier cookies, which will be put on top of the cream topping of the cocoa I will serve during Advent time. The cocoa station will get installed in three weeks. I see the grandchildren queue up already- they might be picky when it comes to eating habits, but all of them love cocoa, and cream topping even more!
Son number three called in the late afternoon- Hubby´s trip to Pölten is cancelled. DiL will bring her two men to health cure. So nice of her to do so! I´d thought that at some point the parents are generally allowed to resign their duties to spouses! It´s about time that my husband learns to say no to his unruly offspring!
