I could cope without this tradition!

 Husband mine always wants to know what we will have for lunch- only yesterday he did not waste any words on this topic. That alone should have made me wonder. When I came down to the kitchen this morning I knew the reason. Because on the counter there were four goose legs. Oh dear, I had forgotten about the tradition of serving goose around Martini. Darn, I hate goose! Isn´t it fun that I am the only one in the family who is able to cook goose to perfection, but must be forced to eat it? Could be because once I had to take care of husband´s niece and nephew at their farm, while their parents slaughtered the geese. I can tell you, those birds do not go without a fuss! Worst was that I had to do today´s cooking all alone- goose, red cabbage and schupfnudeln (squashed potatoes mixed with flour, semolina, eggs and salt and shaped to fingers), while husband mine indulged in a morning matinée at the Mozarteum. Oh, I was livid, but I did make it- even in time! But I swore to myself- from now on it´s eating goose at the inn or have no goose at all (that´s my favourite version of Martini)!
I also spent a lot of time looking for the wax I need for the bench seat in the conservatory. I did not find it until a neighbour called- it was next to the land line, which we keep in a cupboard, so that visitors won´t laugh at us- who does still keep a land line these days! Well, hubby does. So tomorrow I will wax then sort some plants out, which already have mealybugs. Since most of the outdoor plants are in again- temperatures will go below zero during night now- I do not need a mass infestation because of two or three ailing Christmas cactuses!
Otherwise it was a fine day with sunshine. Temperatures went up to twelve degrees, but just now we are already down to four. And it will go down further... Good that I have done the washing yesterday. There´s nothing worse than having a drying rack full of wet clothes in the already cool living room. You can watch the temperatures drop then, yet I am not (yet) ready to activate the dryer- that´s definitely energy wasted!
