Progress on some fronts
Dec. 3rd, 2024 04:33 pm I noticed that during night rain had set in and opted for a sleep-in. Only that I woke at seven straight and knew that sleep was overrated this day. Got up, made breakfast and did all the housework save for vacuuming, because that would have woken hubby. Hubby was off after he had had his breakfast, to get the Christmas present Xaver wants. Xaver has a long list of presents, reminding me of Oscar at that age. Now Oscar is down to three, and not one of the presents is an expensive one. Strange things happen, when children get older and wiser! I tasted one of the peanut cookies I had made, and promptly lost the filling my dentist had applied in October. That´s one more tooth which will need a crown. So no more chewy or crispy cookies for me from now on :(
When hubby was off- and believe me, he was off for a long time- I cleaned windows and hung some of the tin figures up. There has been a time I loved those dearly and was upset, when the shop I bought new ones each year closed. Not so much in love now, because many of the figures suffer from old age, rather like me. I might forgo putting all of them up, I hate their jingling anyway, when someone opens the doors to the terrace or the conservatory. At least the windows are nice and clean now...
I also seized the time when hubby was off to lacquer the pictures I had printed out for our grandchildren´s Christmas tree. If hubby would have watched me he´d have had a heart attack. With hubby it´s always prearrangements, prearrangements and prearrangements again. I am more for the brash way of acting and working. Might turn out stupid, but mostly it´s fine. Today it was fine and done quickly. The only thing hubby noticed was that it was quite cold in the studio- no wonder, the balcony door had been open for some time, since I had my hands full with freshly lacquered pictures when I flitted out and back in! Now all I have to do is glue the pictures onto cardboard, which reminds me that I still have to buy glue. Unfortunately this will involve leaving the house, which I hate when it rains, and even more when it snows. Which might be so tomorrow...
In the evening one of our neighbours will come over for a cup (or two) of mulled wine- it´s tradition in our street that we will visit each other and keep Christmas spirits high. My hope is that this time the lady won´t keep the wine to herself. Hubby might be deeply offended, because he, too, loves mulled wine!
