At six in the morning I was wide awake and found that the studio was well illuminated- hubby thought it might be nice to have the Christmas lights on in the morning. Would have been equally nice if he had closed the shutters on the balcony door! Then again I´d have to find my way out of the sleeping room in complete darkness- or with the help of a flashlight, which hubby hates. Since I have put quite a lot of glass figures on the linen cupboards, walking without flashlight might have turned into disaster.
After breakfast I dragged the boxes with toy cars and children´s kitchen accessoires into the guestroom (no more need for them this year), took a shower then dressed for going out. Not voluntarily- it was minus five outside, with frozen misty dew coming down like snow. Good that I did my tasks early- bank, buying special groceries for tomorrow. Because hubby said he has to be off after lunch, and son was to have his car, so that he´ll be able to visit his on-off girlfriend. That´s why I had to start the dishwasher earlier than necessary, because he will need the Tupperware boxes for the load of cookies his girlfriend has been baking for him. Since those boxes have been used for transporting the Chinese food, they were oily, all seven of them. Yes, I know, hubby has ordered a lot, that´s why I did not have to cook lunch today, save that I found some lonely champignon mushrooms in the fridge which I added to the soup. I don´t do cleaning oily by hand, needs too much hot water and dish soap which will further irritate the skin on my hands. Better turn the dishwasher on, even when not completely full. It´s incredible how little water those things need to get your dishware clean!
Since both of our cars were off I spent the afternoon with reading and doing phone calls. Because of my cold I had missed phoning friends around Christmas time. At least this is done now, so no guilty conscience! The most interesting thing I did was doing research concerning the bottle deposit which will come from January on- as I said, it´s okay for me, we live near Germany and are used to it. But, finally, I found the article I wanted to read- that at the time the German deposit started our politicians decided that they did not want a deposit but lift the prices for all beverages and pay the ARA this way for disposing. That´s why we buy beverages beyond the border- they are cheaper there. My guess is that no one will take the higher prices back, even though ARA is no more involved in the process- so more money for the corporations, it seems. My other research was for the conductor of an orchestra which also works with young musicians. Each time someone brings up a thing that might cast her in a negative light her attorney will quickly come to the rescue and will threaten with claim for damages. The lady is omnipresent in media thanks to agressive promotional campaigns paid by avid sponsors. This lady gets wealthier from concert to concert. The musixcian are paid the minimum, some even less- we know a lot of them, and the things they tell! Would this conductor be male she´d be in deep shit by now!
Since hubby will be off early morning tomorrow to help a friend with moving, and son considers an overnight stay at his girlfriend, I might have to postpone the yearly visit to the family grave on new Year´s Eve, unless sister dearest will pick me up. Then again, with temperatures like these I am not so sure if I want to go outside. At the moment we are down to minus seven...
