I wonder...
Jan. 10th, 2025 05:45 pm ...how Cassian managed to sleep through until six in the morning, went to the loo then and slept for another half of an hour- until Flavius charged into the bedroom to tell us breakfast was ready. Strong winds had started the evening before, the blinds were rattling all night long. But next to no snow, mouse-ankle high at the most, yet farmer's snowplough showed up at five in the morning. That will make a nice skating ground, since temperatures are said to drop to minus ten and even colder during night, and compressed snow is worst. While yesterday the boys were out biking there will be no repeat today. Hubby picked the boys up from kindergarten, we had turkey cutlet in dill sauce and rigatoni, but the boys and I kept to the noodles and left most of the meat for hubby. We thought that maybe we´d take our grandsons for a shopping tour over the border in the afternoon to kill time and keep the older one off the TV, or better, off Amazon Prime, which he handles way better than I do- yesterday I found him sitting in front of the TV watching the Chamber of Secrets, in Spanish admittedly, but still! We did not make it over the border, because aunt Lil aka daughter dearest showed up for a surprise visit. All the ruckus about her woke younger grandson, who got up then but was, let´s admit, insufferable for quite a while. Daughter brought cake and my favourite aborigines breadrolls. No clue how those got their name, but I love them! Hubby took our younger grandson to their house and wanted to bring in son´s cats. Sony showed up, but Samsung is missing. Not so good when an old cat has to spend such a cold night outside! Son´s lodger will try again later in the evening. Daughter went back home in the late afternoon with what was left of our lunch, a container with Krautsuppe (her absolute favourite), salted caramell chocolate sticks and her beanie. Also took my blue-grey shawl with her. She will need both, when temperatures will drop the way the weather forecast predicts. Her shift tomorrow will start early in the morning. The moment she had left Flavius´s bad mood returned. Not even hot chocolate brought back his usually cheerful self! If it stays this way, he will find himself in bed earlier than he prefers!
