...that Christmas is over is the fact that decoration has been replaced by quite a number of cleaning agents, which hubby has arranged in their place. A definite sign that he wants me to clean some places:( Yet I am still in recovery mode! Not that I did not sleep well the last days- Cassian is a sound sleeper- but there´s the fact that the boy wakes me each time he has to use the loo, only that when I get up to turn on the night light he turns his flash on and tells me that he can do it all alone. Of course, he needs to wake me first. Grrr! Hate it! This night I woke, because the light in the studio felt unnatural. I scrambled out of the bed, fearing that hubby had unintentionally turned the Christmas lights on again. We had all of them turned off, when strong winds and sleet made them flutter- short alarm! But no, no Christmas lights, I only had slept through and it was 7:30 in the morning, about time to get up!
No cooking had to be done today- there were still leftovers from yesterday´s lunch! Sounded good to me, I was in no mood for cooking! The weather was grey all over, no sun, blessedfully no snow either. It was cold, too cold for me to undecorate the Christmas tree in the conservatory, even though the living room was littered with the three boxes the baubles and glass figurines had to be put into. Hubby knows how to remind me that undecorating is my chore- he only does the fun part of decorating! After being married to me for 46 years hubby should be well aware that I am very good at ignoring what he wants me to do! Christmas tree had to wait, the next two days it will be freezing cold and I won´t go out to the conservatory to catch another sneeze! But I won´t wait with undecorating until Candlemas this year, because I want to build Hogwarts! There are more candidates for helping out with building: my niece Clara and, of course, daughter mine want to join me and Cassian. BTW, DiL was not amused when I told her I needed Cassian, and Cassian alone, for building. Don't need one set of hands for Lego and the other trying to hammer a way through the glass of the door to the conservatory. DiL always wants to deposite both sons at our house at the same time. But I already saved a space for Hogwarts on top of a shelf in the studio, should we ever succeed! Not an ideal spot, but our house is too small for such things! Maybe decluttering number four´s room would give me some space to store Lego- when here he needs a bed, a working desk and his PC, but not the shelves cluttered with reminders of his childhood!
On BBC (Bonnie Bay crochet) I found another throw- now I am torn which one to do next. Both are beautiful, but the one I found first seems complicated, and I am out of practice! I will have to restock on wool anyway- though on my shopping list, I managed to forget buying more balls the last time I was in the shopping centre beyond the border- that's me to a T!
In the afternoon I dismantled the Advent wreaths- the Potter wreath got lightened a last time two days ago, still fresh and green, because it got kept outside on the shady terrace together with its brother. Way greener than the wreaths one can buy in the shops at the middle of November and which will be highly dangerous when you light the first candle. Hubby insisted on putting the greens into the organic waste bin instead of the fire place. And I noticed a strange thing: I had used twice as much wire for the last third of the second wreath. Could it be that I was in some sort of rage already, with my wreath making friend getting on my nerves by using all the twigs I cut for myself, while I had to start cutting anew, the same process repeating itself over and over? Hubby told me that he indeed noticed this and said the best way to avoid another wreath making disaster will be doing my wreaths alone. Not an easy undertaking, since my friend begins to grill me about wreath making the day after Halloween, if I am lucky. There have been years when she started even earlier...
