Not amused

 DiL 3 was definitely not amused, because another grandchild got allowed for a sleepover. She always wants her children to be the centre of attention- well, the two won´t have a problem to get this done, but only in a not so good way. Can one summon love and attention by screaching? If yes, those two must belong to the most-loved children all over the globe. Anyway, Elsa did not want to sleep in the guestbed in the studio, as her mother had wanted in need of more personal space in the guestroom. So I banned her and Cassian to number four´s room. Meanwhile Matthäus was in bed and howling on top of his lungs for his sister, who was in bed one storey up the room he was in. Elsa had fun with her cousin and completely ignored his cries of outrage, and at some point her brother and mother fell finally asleep. Only when that happened the silly thing decided that she wanted to be with her mother. Hubby caught her in time and sent her back up to Cassian. The two must have slept until five thirty, the usual time for Elsa to wake the rest of the family. And, of course, her cousin, who willingly followed her downstairs, where the two woke mummy and Matthäus. But mummy is always tired- no wonder, since she has to get up twice during night to prepare a bottle with baby milk- for a child that turns three in one month! Hubby suggested to stop the nonsense, and DiL tried to glare him down- after all it´s her who is the one who works hand in hand with youth welfare. But hubby was better at glaring, and she realised that maybe, only maybe she was about losing the contest of wills. Soon after the family left, Cassian helped putting all toys back into the respective boxes then got brought back to his parents. Tomorrow we are invited to lunch at their house, and, of corse, to discuss the proceedings in July. Kindergarten yes or no, when will Cassian and Flavius stay with their father, what to do when they get sick and and and... One thing is for sure- number four´s room will not be available all the time, because son already announced to come back for a lengthened visit at this time! And family number three has planned vacation at the end of July- at our house, of course. Cheapest hotel ever! Questions upon questions!
After lunch (leftovers, I have seen food aplenty wandering into the organic waste bin the last two days, because certain grandchildren took a bite then said no to the rest) I put the dishes into the dish washer-and found an ant colony wandering inside. I turned the dish washer on to get rid of the critters. Found only a few ants wandering the contertop, which I killed immediately. Half an hour later lots of ants wandering the countertop next to the sink, more ant murdering happened. Now there´s three ant traps inside and outside, but still no effect on the ant population! Definitely not amusing!
Hubby did decimate the bamboo, but it will take a while to get rid of the rest. Then there´s the problem with the roots. I vote for herbicide, hubby wants to use fire. Most likely it will be a combination of the two. Working outside was stressing- it felt so hot, even though we only had 24 degrees. At least all the freshly washed bedding dried up pretty well. Now we are awaiting the predicted strong winds and the thunderstorms that come with the cold front. Seems that on Monday and Tuesday we will stay below ten :((
