Saved by the bell
Sep. 12th, 2025 05:39 pm Today I got up at seven- why stay in bed when I am ready for the day! I came to learn about the nature of the voters of our Freedom Party of Austria, when I read the comments to yesterday´s tragic event. Like the rabid carrot those hare-brained idiots demanded death penalty for the shooter of the likewise hare-brained Republican agitator. What did this man want to gain from his actions? A civil war? He might even get it! A fish rots from the head down, that´s the sad truth! And the head stinks, and how! I had an unhurried breakfast ( no hubby flitting back and forth) then immediately went to the conservatory to continue with the jigsaw. I found a lot of pieces within half an hour, which was good, because our weather turned from sunny to gloomy around midday, and at four, when I had finished the daily chores, it was so dark that jigsawing was impossible. Yes, you heard right, I did my daily chores in the afternoon save for the vacuuming of the bedroom. which was the reason why I was not able to accomplish the rest. Because when vacuuming I noticed a puddle under the radiator, called hubby, who came to the rescue and noticed that we needed new breather valves. The one in the bathroom was leaking, too! So hubby drove me to another Tedi shop, bought the valves and came back to pick me up again- and today I got all what I needed! Mini brooms, tiny glass bottles, beads (wrong colours, but who cares, they look festive), paper napkins with autumnal themes. And on the way back we bought three very small pumpkins for decorating. The one who wants to have carved pumpkins can bring their own this year- I certainly won´t pay ten euro for a medium-sized one! Farmers here must have gone mad- we are not even talking about edible pumpkins!
While hubby installed the valves I prepared lunch- tarte flambée with dry-cured ham, Gruyere cheese, blue cheese and pears. The walnuts I forgot (had put them in a drawer the day before), but it tasted fine even without. Recipe will definitely get a repeat! And then I napped half an hour, did housework, had coffee and finally noticed that there´d be no more jigsawing for the day. At five we were down to 14 degrees again, it was raining- and I noticed that my left eye got irritated because of hubby´s attempt at getting the temperature in my car down. Hubby never opens the window, he always makes use of the aircon, which he turns at full blast. I so hope that the new eyedrops will hold the irritation at bay...
