Monday again
Oct. 6th, 2025 05:01 pm Seems that I have gifted my germs to hubby- he is sneezing even better than I am, but he is not dying of man flu this time, until now that is. Then again, since Friday he has been pottering around for hours in the cold basement, so maybe the cold there gave him the sniffles! I don´t care, I have sniffles of my own, plus a cough that keeps me from sleeping quite often. Maybe that´s why I go to bed so late- yesterday it was midnight, today I intend to watch a two-part film which will end close to midnight.
Not much got done today. Weather was depressing, cold (seven degrees) and very wet. Our street is one big puddle, because during night rain was even worse. Hubby wanted Krautfleckerl with bacon as comfort food. Got kraut and bacon but ribbon noodles instead of fleckerl- I do not want to play catch me if you can with fork and knife with this variety of noodles, and I´m definitely not inclined to eat my lunch with a spoon.
Both hubby and I did a lengthy after-lunch nap. Had coffee and the rest of the cake at three, when hubby realised he´d need nosedrops. He was off in a hurry, I sorted some books out, cooking books mostly which will go straight into the paper bin- no one needs cooking books from the eighties! Cooking underwent a huge transition, not even some of the long-established recipes have made it into this decade. Reading the list of ingredients I can guess why- too much fat, too much meat, why such fancy ingredients...
My wardrobe is ready for winter now, but this time I left some T-shirts for warmer days. Or warmer evenings, when hubby will outdo himself by too much wood put in the oven. Believe me, we had this situation more than once last year. My preference is a warm quilt I can cuddle with and not a woodstove aglow with heat, so much heat that one will feel the need to undress. And now you know why I have been crocheting as much as possibke, but not so much to kill my poor hand again- I need another cuddly quilt!
