Not efficient
Oct. 12th, 2025 05:35 pm Nothing the boys and I were working on went smoothly- the egg box ghosts turned out yellowish, the glue bath for those made of fabric did not glue, the spiders did not stay on the walls, not even with double-sided tape. The spider nets were not up high enough for hubby, he tore them down twice- good that it had been him who had installed them!
Today did not start well: I overslept after I had gone to bed late. Cassian went down to meet his brother after seven, I turned around and slept for one more hour. When I came down for breakfast Flavius had eaten what was left of the smoked salmon. A bit impudent of hubby to offer it to grandson, when he knew the salmon was meant for me. But that's the way it goes all the time. I can pass on, but I do not want to constantly...
I seasoned almost two kilo of beef escalope with the boys (they are trained to not lick their fingers during the act), stir-fried the meat and let it simmer with wine, broth and soup vegetables in the big casserole. Son and DiL came late, had lunch then both napped. Must have been a long evening for both. At least son napped with Flavius, while Cassian, daughter dearest and I went upstairs to sort moss and and pine cones I had recently bought. Some of it will go to school with Cassian, because his mum did not have the time to scrape some moss off the trees at the back of their house. Same with the scones- pines aplenty, but they won't wander into their abode by themselves. Idiotic- now Chinese moss bought at Tedi's will make it into the nativity scene the teacher will do with her pupils...
Hubby gave Cassian a sheet where he was supposed to practise numbers and letters. DiL refused, she says that it's the duty of the teacher to teach her son. Only that said teacher is not so sure about the boy's abilities. Honestly- neither am I. The boy needs more practising, but that would mean stress for mum, and mum can't stand stress. Daughter had brought cake for the afternoon coffee- three sorts of chocolate cake. She left to meet up with friends, family number two stayed quite a while longer. At five thirty we were free again. I quickly added two more rows to the throw then went up to the studio, to switch good olf Ashmael on and type today's entry. It will be off to bed after prime time programme and out of the bed early for me, to do a trip over the border to Aldi. Hubby already fears that we will have to pick Cassian and Flavius up after school- DiL has caught another cold and drank tea only today, which is always a bad sign. Well, we will have to wait and see...
