What the heck?
Jan. 5th, 2026 06:00 pm This morning we woke to cosy minus 15 degrees. Granted, it was worse maybe 30 years ago. But in my old age I definitely do not need such cold temperatures! Needless to say that I stayed inside during day save for when I had to refill the bird feeders- at minus seven degrees at midday. Even hubby was not so fond of having to do grocery shopping, but we were out of bread and milk. Milk was for daughter only, she needs it for coffee and hot cocoa. With hubby off I did a Greek orange cake, which took quite a while- happens when one adds too few sugar to make a syrup. Then the phone calls came in- number one and two weren't able to start their cars. Hubby bought two charging devices for them, delivery service included. After delivery hubby and I had lunch (the soup I cooked yesterday, unfrozen then- hubby had stored it outside on the terrace), then I turned the TV on and decided to call it a day. No need for additional housework, because after the boys had left we did a thorough cleaning of the ground floor (where those two rascals had wreaked most havoc), which should last until after the thirteenth Day of Christmas- because here the 6th of January is Epiphany Day, an official holiday. All shops closed- poor hubby! Then again, temperatures won't differ much from today's, so no one won't leave the house voluntarily. Well, except for daughter and me, who will tour to the airport at three thirty in the morning...
