The boys weren't with us in the afternoon. Poor hubby! He drove to the festival district early (bollards close at ten, from then on he would have been caught inside) only to meet DiL and son, who had helped with taking down the paintings and told him that he'd taken the afternoon off to take care of the boys, while mummy was at the finissage and would not return after a proper disclosure of the exhibition inside a disco. That's a place none of my children had ever placed their foot into. So hubby was back early, because all he had to do was drive DiL and her work back to their house. He carefully eyed the things I had put onto the kitchen isle and knew it was a lost cause to bring in ragout. We got thinly sliced pork with Yu Xiang sauce, and it was really good but so much that we'll have to eat leftovers tomorrow. While cooking I also wrote a shopping list for daughter- she lives near my favourite Chinese supermarket. Doubanjiang, Szechuan pepper and soy sauce made it to the top of the list, but there's also cooking wine, roasted sesame oil and pickled chilli peppers. That will be a pricy bill! For a while prices at the Chinese market stayed fairly low, but now they are skyrocketing!
As feared, the cat head turned out too big to fit on the rest, and I had to unravel a big part of it. Well, there's a thing called measuring tape on my desk. Untouched, of course, so this serves me well! Since the weather was spring-like today, sunny and warm, I opened the windows to cool myself down and not explode. It does not help to ponder about what-ifs, there's a thing called brain that should have been involved in the knitting process, and all would be well. So instead of an after-lunch nap I unravelled and planned a new strategy for the project. It definitely depends on the weather- I tried to knit under electrical light, but the black of the wool is too black, I made too many errors in form of stitches done the wrong way.
Hubby printed out extra diabolic sudokus- none of us was able to find a single number. So he rowed back and printed out diabolic ones. Now we found a few numbers and nothing more. Maybe we should start with beginners-only and fight our way forwards...
Our magic candles in the conservatory got brought back to life since warmth is back in the conservatory. They behaved from Christmas on until today- now I have to go out and turn one or two of them off continuously, because they flare up as they please. Totally not funny! I wanted to leave them hung until the beginning of spring season, but tings might turn out differently now.
After the last coffee of the day at four in the afternoon I finally tackled the kitchen and its windows. One cannot clean them when it´s under zero all the time! I hate the window next to the sink, because it´s so hard to keep it clean to a certain degree!
And because I was drained after all the grisly work I sat down to go through the garden magazines I had bought without reading them. Oh my! I think I have a new job for hubby- paint the walls pink, it´s Valentine soon! And after that, paint them yellow. Or green. Because spring will be here soon! And please, do not forget about the heart-shaped pink pot Aldi will sell next week. Seriously, there must be people who will put such nonsense into action, or such idiocies would not find their way into magazines and leaflets....
