...has begun! The only problem is that I am only able to do the bottom part of the apple- and the plum tree. For the rest I need hubby´s help- only that hubby is off to wherever the moment he sees me bring out the big pruners! Hubby loves raking, mowing and weeding- but pruning? Never ever! Must be because he always cuts the wrong branches and gets a dressing down afterwards! Today I cut last year´s flowers off the hydrangeas- eight bushes of them. A lots of branches died during winter, those had to go, too. The freshly emptied organic waste bin is full to the brim again. In the trailer there´s still room for branches and the like- Cassian and Flavius were mostly occupied with destroying the big pile of snow next to our garden wall instead of dragging cut wood. But snow heap finally released my long missed small garden shears- did the boys really use them for cutting snow? Damn, I will either have to derust or buy new ones...
Today started early again, at three thirty in the morning and zero degrees. The streets were full of thawing salt- good, that even at such an early hour there are plenty of hellbent drivers on their way. Just last night our police caught three of them- at 120 km/h along the streets of Salzburg town, all three fresh out of the driving school. All three without driving licence and car now. Three idiots less on the streets... After a good hour of pruning (when it finally got warmer) I went back inside to prepare Mongolian beef mince with cabbage. Easy-peasy to do, but I had to cook rice- again, even though I had cooked double the amount we needed for yesterday's lunch. That´s what you get when your husband thinks he needs three warm meals a day and uses up too much rice.
Hubby picked daughter up from work, we had lunch, went to the conservatory to continue with the jigsaw ( plenty of warmth and light today), had a cup of coffee with self-baked cake then watched TV (Patagonia this time). Daughter took a nap while I filled a box with dontneeditwontkeepit and brought it over to a neighbour, who will sell those things at the flea market. Easier this way, so I won't have to bring the box to town for recycling. Came back an hour later, having had more coffee at neighbour's, and went upstairs to do a bit of reading. Finally- AO3 is working again. I was a bit confused- had been reading a fic, went to do what one does on the loo, and when I came back the webpage was down. Dead. Without notice. Very AO3-unlike!
I am so waiting for daylight saving time- I very much prefer light in the evening to light in the morning. Being used to getting up at seven thirty proves harder each day. Today was especially hard, since I was out of the house so early, came back to a bedroom filled with light (full moon alarm), took my time to fall asleep again, and at seven the new day was obtrusively popping in via dormer window. If only I were able to remember where I stored the curtains for this window! I have gone through the content of the bathroom cabinet, where I usually store such things, but no sign of them...
