This was...
Mar. 8th, 2026 06:40 pm ...exhausting in many ways. First: The trip to number three's abode takes two and a half hour, if traffic is low. Today we needed more than three hours- there's new road works with traffic jam even on Sundays- town people leaving for fun in the country in the morning, rolling back in in the evening. Mix them with some kamikaze drivers, and there'll be jam... We barely made it to lunch in time- at eleven thirty! Many families have just finished Sunday breakfast at such a time! Secondly: Elsa was ecstatic about the vanity and the cosmetics she found in the drawer. She did paint her lips and her nails, and we had to marvel at her choice of colours every ten minutes. If we did not, she got loud. Elsa-loud, which is a threat for everyone's ears. Finally there was young Matthäus, who loved his car-eating dino very much. So much that he spent lunch under the dining table, trying to make the car eat our toes. His parents, especially DiL3, were not amused. Lunch was okay, even though DiL did all by herself, even the dumplings, which got cooked in the air fryer. I was very tempted to propose to get the dumplings at the farmer's market next time- why bother with too much cooking when one can buy those things! They even might be tender and we'd be able to get out of lunch with our teeth intact.
I had brought my last olive trees to son, who will plant them into the garden, which is a really nice one- walnut trees, sweet chestnuts, lots of berry bushes- and more olive trees now. Before we left for home I promised my not so small olive babies to regularly come for visits. A blatant lie, because I like to keep my sanity- not possible with an Elsa in the house!
BTW: Elsa won't come to us in July. The parents switched to August, which means that we will get a full month of grandchildren in the house. Plus the family will come for a short three-day visit from Holy Thursday to Holy Saturday. I am delighted. If I get reborn by chance I have to remember to stay childless for a change...
