Winter wonderland...for three days only
Jan. 26th, 2021 05:42 pmI have sworn to myself that I will not complain about the usual, like Covid numbers climbing once again, more Brits and Swedes caught in the act, and that our vaccination schedule will prepone those between 20 and 50 now that they know that vaccine preferred by EU because cheap won´t work with old people. Instead of laments I will show you what I found this morning. I have to admit that I slept unusually well, so I missed the telltale sounds of snowploughs during night. Got up at seven, wiped away the green blob on the staircase then went to the kitchen and turned the Coffee machine on. The green blob has been part of the sage hubby bought for me to do saltimbocca. Thank goodness for small favors, the cats did only nibble at the green stuff. What indoor cats need as an additional breakfast is cat grass, which I cannot get hold of because it is sold in garden centres, which are still closed. What I need for breakfast is coffee, toast, a maximum of calm and the dailies. So when I opened the front door to get the dailies and found none of it in the letter box I did a quick evaluation of the situation. Mother Hulda´s chanbermaid must have gone on the rampage during night. I wonder if the poor old woman has any feathers left in her bed. The street got ploughed at some point, yet the newspaper deliverer saw his car not fit enough to cut its way through all that snow that did come afterwards, which is understandable. What I do not understand: He could have left our newspapers at our neighbour, because this one got her dailies as usual. Then again, her house is situated at the beginning of the street. Maybe the newspaper deliverer thought hubby and me not fit enough to get there in such a bad weather. I tiptoed back to the bedroom to get my mobile and take some pictures. In default of newspapers I toyed with my mobile during breakfast, and what did I find? The weatherforecast for the following days. And what will we get? Rain, lots of rain, so much that flooding may happen. Hubby better buy the one-way valve he´s been talking about for quite a time. Oops! DIY markets which sell this item are still closed!

Now, where did all the steps go?

Date: 2021-01-26 04:48 pm (UTC)So far, we've had sunshine and clouded sky in quick succession. And a lively wind today. Blowing right in my face when I was dragging home my shopping bags, of course.
