Recovering
Nov. 29th, 2021 07:01 pm... from yesterday´s cooking marathon, which began quite early, because son who is known for leaving at 12.30 needed nourishment before his travel back home. Fearing that one package of meat was not enough for three persons I asked hubby to bring two, especially because he swore there were only five pieces in a package. Turned out that the meat was no minute steak but sliced waferthin into ten pieces. And hubby wanted roulades. So Sunday morning I beat 20 pieces of meat until tender, seasoned then brought out ham and bacon for the filling (bacon replaces pickled cucmber which none of us likes). 20 tiny roulades plus sauce and pumpkin risotto- meal got ready in time, each of us had three roulades for lunch, and just when I thought that we´d have plenty of leftovers for the next day, hubby packed the rest of the meal into boxes and gave it to son, because, you know, Cassian does not like fried meat, and son wouldn´t have to cook. Today Cassian arrived at ten in the morning, and hubby left soon after, because he was the one to have an eye on baby Flavius, when his mother was at the dentist. She had her appointment at twelve straight, and hubby thought that it´d be only a matter of half an hour at most. Ha! After half an hour baby was livid and wanted nourishment. Had hubby done as I told him he´d be in his own car and able to drive around, thusly soothing the irate grandson and put him back to sleep. But he sat in daughter-in-law´s tiny car and thought that he did not even have a pram (had he looked in the boot he would have found one). Serves him well! So it was Casssian-granny bonding time- tablet watching, chocolate and at twelve time for a nap which he did not want to do. We settled on the big bed and I began to tell the little one about the things I did at Christmas when I was a child, like writing a letter to Christkind to ask it for the present I wanted most. Letter got put on the windowsill together with a piece of candy, and the next morning it was gone. Cassian wants his parents to tell Christkind that he needs new cars for Christmas. All his cars do miss tyres, bumper bars and... he did not get any farther, because by then he was fast asleep, and for the next hour and a half at that. When awake again I did the children´s Christmas tree with him. Now I know what true excitement looks like. Cassian did not stop before the last ornament got hung on the tree, and then he sat next to it, admiring all the kitsch we had put on the artificial fir. I will have to take a photo of the tree of horror tomorrow, so that you can crack up over its kitschiness! Well, as long as Cassian loves the little fir...
