A friend has been nagging me for a meeting for weeks now. So I agreed for ice coffee and cake tomorrow in the afternoon. Well, I should better have picked today, because weather tomorrow is said to be quite warm and sunny, so to say a perfect day for swimming and lazying about- hey, this is this year´s holiday for hubby and me!
Today weather was more so-so- it started with sun in the early morning, but when hubby was back from the barber and we were on our way to Germany, it became overcast, just as prognosticated. Yet we were able to watch quite a lot of hikers starting their climb onto the Untersberg- a dangerous thing, when a thunderstorm will strike! Don´t those people read the weather forecast? When we were out of the first shop, it started to rain, and soon after it was raining cats and dogs, albeit for a short time only. Humidity was at its best today- when back home I opened the terrace door and was soaked with sweat in no time. Poor hubby still hasn´t got his wasp spray. Turned out that in Germany he will only get one in a shop with plant protection centre (usually a DIY market). Where we were there´s no such market- just hubby´s luck! Not to mention that husband was in such a hurry to get back to our house that I completely forgot that I needed a few things from the local DM market, so I had to do another shopping trip in the afternoon. I did so when hubby was having his after-lunch nap sitting on the terrace- there had been a whole hour without rain then! Unfortunately there was a lot of traffic on the streets today. That´s the problem we have to cope with- on the one hand those tourists who enjoy the beauty and the culture Salzburg will offer to its guests, on the other hand the visitors who want to see the beauty of the mountains on the German side of the border. And maybe a bit of Obersalzberg. On rainy days all of them will make a run for our local shopping centres. I got caught in a jam for quite a while, and the thirty-minute tour I had planned got extended to more than one hour, and all that during another impressive thunderstorm, which had soaked me on my way from the shop to the car! I really, really needed an after-five cup of coffee after all the hassle!
Tomorrow Florence will leave for France, and hubby did the evening feed of the cats and the talk about what to do with her cat- a stray which one day decided he´d want to be less stray and more of a pet cat. The tom is not exactly friendly towards men, so I will watch the outcome with bated breath. Maybe I should invest in more cat goodies, to placate poor cat! Not that tom does the same stunt as last year, when he disappeared into thin air the day Florence left and only came back when she had returned!
