Ant attack

 It started with a few ants wandering in the mudroom. The plants residing there got brought outside in hope that no more frost would harm them in spring. Mudroom got cleaned. I was on ant watch, but on the second day I would not find any. But now there were some wandering the kitchen next to the sink. I killed them (no pardon, ants belong outside). Daughter found more and did the same. This morning, when I turned the coffee maker on, I found a lot of night crawlers, which is strange for ants. Since then hubby and I were hunting. That part of the kitchen is mostly cleared now, only the coffee maker remained. I still was not able to find the exact location the ants get into the house, so that I'd be able to strategically place ant baits. I definitely do not want a repeat of last year´s disaster! This morning I also cleared the deco table in front of the window of all plants. I put them into containers in the garden so that those crawlers would not chose one of them to build another ant nest in one of them, as they did last summer- and all that in pouring rain. Weather has turned from so-so to bad- definitely too cold to my mind! Nine degrees only, ants and a bad mood is a disastrous combination! Poor hubby will have to endure...
We left for the garden centre just before lunchtime and bought ant baits, pheromone traps for the fruit trees and a bilberry bush for DiL2, who has invited us for Romanian Easter on Sunday. Hubby did ham-and-cheese toasts for lunch, then we both had a short nap- this evening we are off to a scenic reading of Thomas Bernhard, who had gone to class with my father. Tickets by son number two, so I was forced to go. Let's hope that I won't doze off...
