Weather here is killing me. Either it is extremely hot (which happens every two weeks, for two days), or it´s cold and pouring down (standard weather this summer). These days the God of Weather has cooked up something new: It´s pouring down while temperatures are still over the 20ies. Huzzah! We all haven´t slept well for three nights in a row. The nightshirts, the hair, everything is glued to the body because of the atmospheric humidity. Today I got sick during night which was annoying because I had been gifted tickets for The Knight of the Rose, but decided to not let those go to waste, because a dear friend of mine would join me. Oh dear, stuck in our famous festival theatre, for almost five hours, the old-fashioned air conditioning system giving its best, and yet about 2000 spectators sat, bathed in sweat, listening to Richard Strauss. Not my favourite composer, though the basic idea of this opera is a cute one: aging aristocrat sets her (very) young lover free of her own accord (today she´d end up in prison for seduction of minors), to clear the way for him to marry his true love. A comic opera with reference to the passing of time, growing old and the fickleness of men –very touching, and worth the vexations.

This night should have been better, because it grew cold now, but no, all of a sudden we had strong winds knocking over the garden furniture and effectively killing my butterfly bush, so instead of sleeping I ran about the garden storing garden utensils!
