While reading an entry about dreams I remembered one I had many years ago when I just had entered slash fic wonderland, while rereading the Silmarillion at the same time. One of the first fics I read portrayed a fiddle playing Namo. It was sugary-sweet and so very, very romantic, but shortly afterwards I dreamed of Namo in his corporeal form (for the souls sake!) playing the fiddle like I did when I took violin lessons, which must have been a very traumatic experience for my teacher. I remember Namo tossing away the instrument of torture, admitting defeat. At this moment Manwe entered his halls, to become more aquainted with the ways of Elves, because Elvish mentality used to make his hair turn grey (if he had any). Namo gave his superior some kind of crash course in Elvish lifestyle, both of them ending up in bed, testing Elvish love life and enthusiastically practising in a corporeal body. Unfortunately Namo had chosen to take the female part in this fling and ended up pregnant, not being able to change back into his incorporeal form until his daughter was born. I vividly remember the time he spent hiding in his Halls, from Elvish souls and especially from Vaire, afraid someone would uncover his bad luck, and the merry game of hide and seek afterwards, with Vaire and Varda hard on Manwe´s and Namo´s heels, both of the female Valar intent on clearing up the mystery. As usual, I woke up laughing hysterically and thusly rousing my husband. That would have been one hell of a crackfic had I written about Namo and Manwe hiding their daughter, first in the Halls, afterwards in Middle Earth, to get away from trouble! I see Tolkienists mounting the barricades when faced with such an adulteration of the Professor´s work! This begs the question: would the fic have been a Mpreg, after all Namo only accidentally played a female Elf?
