I have greatly enjoyed these last days of summer after all the turmoil the last weeks had brought upon our family. The funeral had been as expected, my sister-in-law boastful as ever, her son, too. That woman is a nutcase since the day her only child came into being. Her husband had brought a daughter into the marriage, but the moment their son was born the girl got shunt off to a grandmother far away from the rest of the family, and one day she ran away and kind of committed suicide by taking stimulants, which is counterproductive when you got born with a cardiac defect. So we simply sat out the funeral rites, and since hubby was not invited for a last coffee in my father-in-law´s house while his brother and sisters met there we left after the funeral reception. This all might sound a bit melodramatic, but I think that hubby did not take lightly that he practically was shunned by his siblings.
Last week was a stressful one, I had to bring a suitcase with warm clothing to precious daughter mine on Monday, on Tuesday we had to drive to Graz, because son number four moved into a new flat together with his old mates, from hypermodern rooms with lots of glass into an old building with high ceilings and lusters, yet his new room is almost as large as the whole flat before. Unfortunately his former roommate has removed only half of the furnishing in his room and did not show up on Saturday, either, when we once again did the three hours drive to do the big cleaning. Kitchen, bathroom, toilet and number four´s room are all ready for move-out inspection, yet the last room has been a disaster when we left. I wonder if that guy showed up today to do his part of the work!
Oscar and Xaver were here for a visit today, and both were in a bad mood, especially big brother, who got cautioned by his parents quite often. I blame it on the change of weather. Yesterday it has been cold and rainy, today it was hot again, and I was tempted to use the pool for a last time. Hearing the frantic bleating of the sheep and the constant mooing of the cows on the pasture reminded me that we are to get the first autumn storm during night, with wind forces up to 130 km/h. And since Tuxedo cat was not quite himself today, too, nervously prowling round all the time, I am pretty sure that animals can feel the oncoming storm, so why not children, too? There have been days when children at school seemed to have lost their minds, even the usually well-behaved ones, and what did we get? Storms, heavy thunderstorms and other freak weather. Sometime during growing up we must have lost the ability to feel the changes in weather.

So I harvested more grapes, got a last load of ornamental pumpkins from our neighbour, took a picture of the sky which looked totally unsuspicious then went back into the house where my daughter-in-law presented me the passport photo of my youngest grandchild. Blessedly they were already leaving, so that my ensuing laughing fit could not mar our relationship. Because that´s what she showed me: Super Xaver. I only hope that she won´t have to show the passport too often!
