Yesterday we had a really nice family day, all hanging around a bit because the night before had been a long one, with too much wine for some of the participants, yet we were enjoying the lazy atmosphere after so much excitement the last days had brought. Social distancing is no fun when it comes to family! For the first time almost all in the household contributed to the excessive amount of food needed for a proper dinner. I did two cheese cakes, one caramell, the other one topped with strawberries, hubby made a huge bowl of noodles with ham and cheese, number four did a vegetable soup while number three made the salad. Daughter dearest set the table, and Elsa and her mummy were napping away the fatigue that had built up in the two by getting to bed later than usual and also because of mummy not having thought of taking a travel cot for the little one with them, hence their daughter rotating in her parent´s narrow bed like a clock hand. Finally everything was ready for diner. It had been raining all day long, a slow drizzle that made everyone sleepy. And at that precise moment we sat down the lamps began to flicker, and the first very loud thunderclaps made little Elsa howl in fright. No one had suspected that the weather might go worse. There had been no warning, though three of us have a weather app on the mobile, and it´s not a free one. Until now we got proper information should anything concerning weather would take a turn for the worse, but there's always a first. So when a few seconds later hail and rain went across the garden horizontally the three men stormed into the garden, to save plants from being blown away or hailed to dead and cover the installations room of the pool, to prevent a total blackout by electrical short. Then they changed clothes, because all of them were dripping wet, and we started dinner. When I finally went for the cake and turned on the coffeee machine I did a look onto the courtyard in front of the window. I did not believe my eyes: In the short time the thunderstorm had lasted one of our neighbour´s tree had gotten killed by the storm and fell over behind hubby´s car. Fortunately it had not been a big tree, but between the car and the branches you were not able to put your finger in between. Phew! Today hubby and neighbour sawed the tree up for further usage, so that number four was able to drive off to meet one of his friends, a thing I am not so happy about, because already they are talking about the second wave of Corona that will hit soon and full force, in case people will not stick to the rules put upon us.
Today was also the day number three and his family had to leave for home. And about an hour before they left little Elsa decided she was fed up with crawling and moving forward on her knees, so she started to run. At first from mum to dad to aunt, and then she realised she was way faster this way and started another pursue of our cats. Namo was thunderstruck when she came after him on two legs and forgot to run off. Blessedly this cat has a very sweet temper. Not many cats tolerate such a fierce handling!
