Ouch!

Apparently I have spent too much time watching Youtube videos during night. That´s why I decided to have a try at Rou Jia Mo, not the way it´s usually done, but the way shown at the Taste show, with pork knuckle instead of pork belly. The crucial difference between knuckle and belly is that knuckle should be deep-fried in an intermediate step before it gets to simmer in broth. I do not have a deep fryer. There´s an airfryer, and it´s straight before my eyes, but I did not even think of putting the knuckles- we are talking about two of it, because number two came for dinner, and he´s a hesrty eater- in there. No, it had to be hot oil in a cooking pot which was a tad too small, so turning the meat got a bit adventurous. Besides, the knuckles had been brought to boil in a first step, so there was still some water hidden in the meat, which caused unforeseen eruptions in the pot. The result was a yummy Chinese pulled pork, the self-baked bread was soft, and my hands are covered with blisters, lots of it. Not so good in case you want to knit a scarf, with mohair wool at that. Two blisters have already burst open, so knitting has to get postponed. The crux of the matter is that I wanted to wear the scarf next weekend. Well, hard luck, I´d say. You don´t always get what you want.
Tomorrow I intended to do a shopping trip beyond the border. Trip is postponed, too. The whole area I use to shop in has been put in lockdown. Boy, the Germans are quick when it comes to things like these!



I know I´ll have to clean the shower screen asap. What I wanted to show is our neighbour´s birch tree. We are in the middle of October, and there´s not a single leaf left. Driving drives me nuts, the streets are covered with leaves. Way too early, but it has been so cold for so long...but tomorrow we´ll be up to 20 degrees, and 25 on wednesday. Oh my, it´s aspirin time...again.
