Sleep is not overrated
Feb. 22nd, 2021 07:48 pmToday I overslept, and how! Last thing I heard was hubby getting up to feed Lady Vaire at five in the morning, then nothing - until hubby started his car to do what he calls the necessary daily shopping. I am pretty sure that most of the things he intended to buy were in the house already or not exactly essential for our family´s well-being, but at least I was wide awake then - at a quarter past nine! First thing I did was take a shower, a real hot one. Because on Sunday I found a time slot between baking (thanks for the recipe,
curiouswombat) and cooking and decided to do a quick shower to refresh myself. It is not easy to have our granddaughter sleep in the house. The little girl is up at five in the morning, and no matter how hard the poor parents try to lull her to sleep again, she won´t have any of it. So they get up together and prepare breakfast, which includes making coffee for mum and dad at half past five. Only that our coffee machine is so loud that hubby and I in the bedroom above the kitchen are now awake, too. And Elsa´s chattering and singing is the final straw for sleep. So I hopped into the shower to wash off sleep, wetted body and hair in cold water and applied shampoo and shower cream while waiting for the warm water to come. Only that it did not come, and I had to complete my shower in what felt like ice water. Very refreshing but headache-inducing. At least I was wide awake then, which was good because I had to do a lot of chopping with a very sharp knife, which usually ends in disaster for one of my fingers. And I know now that showering after number three and four have done their ablutions is not a good idea, the two of them deplete our supply of warm water without any problems. Today´s warm showering did me some good, and I felt brave enough to call the vet for Namo´s next appointment. Namo cat is not feeding well once again, at least not the food he is supposed to feed. I am aware that he will not be with us for long, but as long as he is in no pain he will stay. And he will have his first pedicure tomorrow, because otherwise we will have to purchase new clothing for all of those he graces with his affection. And if he behaves well when he gets his claws cut Vaire will be the next for a cat pedicure. So, please, wish Namo, the vet and me well. All three of us need luck, for different reasons!
