Cat pedicure and buds, lots of buds
Feb. 23rd, 2021 05:35 pmNamo´s meeting with the vet went fairly well. He did not make a fuss when he got his nails trimmed. He did not make a fuss when getting a shot for his pancreas problems. He was placid, did not howl or scratch. But the worst part was over already. I had made it halfway to the new vet when Namo shat into the pet carrier. The stench of his excrements was awful, I almost barfed over the steering wheel. Cat thought the same and puked out his breakfast for good measure. Vet got a stink bomb carried into the treatment room. She tore open the window then closed it, after I told her that I did not want to scrape my cat off the adjoining and heavily frequented road. We packed the soiled towel in a plastic bag then cleaned the cat and the carrier box. Only then vet was able to treat Namo and do the cat pedicure. I was so mad at my cat that I let him stew ten minutes in the car afterwards to do a blitz shopping in the nearby supermarket. I really needed that bar of chocolate. At home Namo got rinsed for the second time in less than an hour, and yes, now he was howling, served him well. The towel went straight into the bin and the carrier got a thorough cleansing with disinfectant. I so wish that our old vet would still have her veterinary practise next to our house, though I´d have to have a word with her about only treating Namo´s thyroid problems but not his pancreas, when the blood test showed that it was no more working properly. Cat might be in a better condition then, but it can´t be helped, it is what it is. Namo´s appetite returned shortly after the second shower of the day. He made off with a piece of turkey. Oh well, as long as it stays down...
Outside it is spring the way spring is supposed to be. 16 degrees, sun is shining, male birds are courting, cats are lying in wait, as always. They know those male lunatics are an easy prey for them. They are blind to the dangers of felines lurking, practically run into the cats´ fangs. Spider population has woken up, too. This I do not need at all. Hubby saved some very impressive specimen from my broom and carried them to the farmer´s field - in a pickle jar. They better not come back to our house. Reminds me of the first winter spent in our new house, when hubby went into the unused cellar and came back with a jar full to the brim with spiders he had found down there. I think I had a screaming fit then, and hubby quickly emptied out the jar - at our neighbour´s stack of wood. A year later neighbour had foregone staking wood. No wonder, he must have carried a lot of spiders into the house when bringing in the firewood!

Cornel cherry, my favourite one. I hope that this one will fruit this year!
