Not much to tell
Jul. 14th, 2021 03:53 pmNot much to say today save that I might have gotten a cold during night. My nose is a bit runny, but that was to be expected when I forgot to tilt the windows in the bedroom but left them wide open instead. It had been raining heavily during night, a sound that makes me sleep like a babe- alas, next to the duvet instead under it, again. And this despite the fact that it actuelly had been my duvet on my half of the bed. Wonders never cease! It was only eleven degrees in the morning, so we technically have autumn with longer days as usual, just as weather forecast predicted.
I wanted a quiet day today but did not get it. An old student has announced herself for a visit. She is not married. She has no children. She has no housework to do because she has a cleaner and a mother who does the remaining chores out of boredom (mother has retired six years ago but never found a way to occupy herself with more intelligent hobbies)- what my ex student does not have is free time. Apparently every minute of her life is carefully planned. No spaces in between for spontaneous activities. Job until five, then cooking class, dancing lessons, book club, theatre, depends on the day we have. She scampers around, meets lots of interesting people, but she is neither vaccinated nor gets tested regularly. Visits to friends are Wednesday´s only. Her next Wednesdays are scheduled already, so she moved heaven and earth to come for a visit today. After a bunch of mails I capitulated. A free day would have been nice, but you can´t have everything. So clean the house it was, and, of course, do the daily cooking. Since number four and five are back home meal times changed drastically. Instead of three in the afternoon lunch has to sit on the table at 1 PM exactly. That´s when number four gets back from work for a break, and number five is about to leave half an hour later. And if you think that those two are old enough to eat alone, then I must tell you that it´s hubby who insists on eating together. Must have been educated this way...
It is sixteen degrees outside. Why on Earth do we have another thunderstorm outside? Always thought those would happen when either a) lots of sun, humid air, off we go b) cold front meets warm front- a) won´t happen for a while, and b)??? Well hello, with only 16 degrees outside we really don´t need another drop of temperatures!
