In the morning I did red currant cake. A pity that there are so few red currants this year, must have been the wonderful summer weather that caused this fiasco. Red currant cake is easy to make, not even I can fail at it. In the afternoon I baked bread, only one loaf, because I forgot to feed the sourdough, but hey, it did not die on me! Not completely at least. Hubby loves self-baked bread, but sourdough was only enough for one small loaf! I pledge I will take good care of the tiny bit of dough that went back into the fridge, well-fed and put into a new fancy plastic box!
PS: Sourdough did not have power enough anymore. Bread is on the compact side- risen insuffiently, its texture not the way it should be. Apparently this does not matter to hubby and number four, only one third of bread left after suppertime.
What we have aplenty this year is black elder berries. Now some stewed elder fruit or jam is okay now and then, but the shelves in the cellar and the freezers are quite full with those products. Hubby loves the berries. He has been in a berry picking frenzy the last days. And all over the main floor you will find traces of purple. I sent hubby to clean the floor. First he steals all the berries from the birds then he dirties the house. Not on my watch!
