Son decided that resuming his summer job during weekends might be a good idea to restock money to his bank account. So for the rest of the year and the next, too, at least until summer, he will be back on Thursday evening, work Friday and Saturday then return to Graz. That means I will most likely see my car from the rear only, when son leaves in it for work. Not that it´s that far he has to go for work, but who wants to take it up with a bicycle when it is so frosty in the morning! And on Saturdays he will drive to his girlfriend, who unfortunately lives more than forty kilometres away now, because flats here in Salzburg are very costly.
I decided that Sunday will be Ramen day. Son thought it would be tomorrow and took the duck breast out of the fridge. I will marinate this piece of unloved meat when it is defrosted. Maybe it will turn out edible this way! Pork belly is already marinated for tomorrow´s broth cooking. Hubby will be in for a surprise in case he does another unneeded grocery run and finds the fridge full of pots and bowls and no place for the umpteenth package of cheese or ham he accidentally found in the supermarket- offered down, of course!
I will have to do my own food run now, to German Aldi-land, where you can get wonderfully fresh vegetables to a way better price than here. Besides, I need more Halloween decoration and a skeleton pyjamas for Elsa, one that matches Cassian´s, who might stay with us that special day. Yay, two in the house who get up at cockcrow, and uncle number three in his room, who has to sleep off the remnants of the town´s biggest Halloween party! Oh dear!

Oh, I almost forgot to post the morning view from our bedroom window! Too much snow on the mountain for my liking. It will get warmer now, but next week the cold will be back. Another step closer to winter (when it will be warm and rainy and not at all wintery, as usual).

I am back

...and almost having a coronary. Was storing vegetables away when hubby brought in the duck. You´ve heard right: the duck- a whole one. No duck breasts, as I was told. Now how am I supposed to do ramen with a whole duck, especially because three fifths of those who will come to lunch-dinner do not like duck but will have pork instead. We found a solution. I will roast the duck then cut off a breast for DiL´s ramen soup. Then hubby will bring what is left of the duck (a good deal) to son number two, which will release son from having to cook, and me from having to eat duck. If it was up to me all those ducks could live happily to the rightful end of their life.
Sorry for the second post of the day, but this way I was able to blow off my steam...
