The long and winding road

...which turned into a lost road- this was the game we were playing today. I should have taken the saying ´There´s no time like the present´ to heart, when I did not pinch off the tomatoes or start knitting the front of Cassian´s jumper yesterday. I tidied a bit and read a bit, because, you know, there´s always a tomorrow for those things. Then there were my neighbours (we had a nice meeting) and the daily crime story on TV with hubby- and at ten Dil number three called that she had a dentist appointment for the next day, and we were to take care of her sons- both of them. Now Cassian is used to us, but Flavius? He is nine months now and should be shy with people he does not know so well. Right? No, wrong! He was the happy little man he always is, laughing all the time, playing with the toys for babes, at least as long as his brother let him. Turned out that he was less complicated as we´d thought, and definitely less complicated than his older brother. Cassian does not want to share his grandparents and got quite nasty by taking away Flavius´s toys all the time. So little man switched from toys to shoes, which prompted us to bring all shoes to the vestibule. I have to say that little Flavius is slow in his bodily development, he began to roll over, when other children crawl and sit without help. He has not done much moving except rolling over or pivot like a watch hand. But seeing his beloved shoes out of his reach and no toys at hand got him into gear- he was happily crawling along the anteroom to the vestibule, where he had watched hubby bring off the shoes. I brought him back to the play gym, he went off anew. We played that game a long time, until hubby closed the door to the vestibule, which left our grandson knock at the safety glass for some time, unhappily watching the beloved shoes now out of reach, until he gave up and went back in search of toys. DiL came to pick up her sons only after four hours. I was tempted to look into her mouth, if the dentist had left her any teeth to eat with, but most likely she had them bleached and polished, so that she will shine like a diva when back home in Bucharest. Besides, our revenge was to bring her youngest into motion, and how! She has been spared this stage of crawling long enough!
When the family was off, we finally had a very late lunch and then none of us was keen to do anything exhausting, like going into the garden (still too cool and windy outside) or knit (too dark inside). Maybe tomorrow, when the weather should be fine again...
