As feared, hubby and Cassian came back empty-handed. No decoration was to be found in the shops. But I could see the gears turning in my grandchild´s head, after he had entered the house again... This child soaks up every word I say. When he left two weeks ago (he had to, but did not want to, so I tried to comfort him), I promised him that we would make a Halloween ghost for decoration, when he´d be with us next time. Yesterday he reminded me of my promise. But- I have given all the white sheets away, and a coloured one won´t do the trick. Cassian was devastated, because, you know, I had promised ... This day. With him. Using a white sheet. Damn! Then I remembered that I had seen a piece of an old curtain stemming from the household of an old lady long gone, which I needed to put in the bin. More grey than white, lace torn at some places- but perfect for what we wanted. Now we do not exactly have a ghost, but a scary Lady in White crossbred with Casper, too short for a ghost, the head stuffed with Cassian´s favourite football (that alone says it all). To make Casper-Lady less scary, she carries a basket with sweets. Cassian did visit the White lady every half an hour. The stock of sweets in the basket has dwindled considerably. Blessedly it had gotten dark in the conservatory at some point, and then the aspect of having a ghost out there kept the little sweet tooth inside. Cassian got returned to his family in the morning- husband mine had to do a drive to Tyrol. I thought of improvements considering the lady´s eyes and body and found a solution for the latter- a coathanger will give her some volume. Besides, the lady needs hair! At the moment she is completely bald... I thought that I might craft a wig out of paper towels, but hubby almost got a coronary, when I told him about my plan. Kitchen towels are goods in short supply at the moment. It took hubby four days and visits to a lot of shops, before he finally was able to purchase a package!
