No wool today
Jan. 12th, 2023 06:11 pm Husband dearest forgot to tell me that he had to go to my sister´s flat at one in the afternoon, to help her with the worker, who was to come and have a look at the water damage. Bad thing is that it´s indeed a water damage. Even worse is, that the damaged segment is located about twenty centimetres from the place the workers stopped working last summer. Means that this part of the kitchen has to be taken down once again, the wall will get levered up again, and the workers do not even know, if they have to dig the floor up. "Excellent" news for my sister, who had intended to celebrate her husband´s birthday in the flat at the end of February, together with what is left of the family. Since she has turned living room and kitchen into one big room, her intentions turn out to be nearly impossible. With hubby away I skipped lunch and had early dinner instead. Once again we had leftovers (mashed potatoes with smoked meat) and Stosuppe made of curdled milk and sour cream. My milk I had to "curdle" first, which works pretty well if you put bors into the soup, which is some sort of Romanian acidifying agent that works wonders. Even daughter mine, who took an early train back from college to spend more time with her cat, did like it, though she is more of a Suppen-Kaspar (finicky eater when it comes to soups, except for the Chinese hot and sour version).
Still no new knitting project, for this I´d have to take my car and drive to Germany, and I did not feel like it. The shops selling wool in our vicinity had to close down during and after the pandemic. So strange, with so many people resuming knitting and crocheting out of boredom! Amazon must have had one field day after another... But those things happen, if you are not willing (or able) to ship your ware!
Today hubby dismantled all Christmas lights. Only that most of the lights I had wanted to stay, until the days get considerably longer- we do not have street lighting, and our quarter often has unwanted visitors. I felt safer with a lit-up driveway, but of course, the costs! Do I have to emphasise that we have energy efficient LEDs only? But that´s my man...
