So while the Southern part of our country - the one at the other side of the Alpes- got so much snow that traffic mostly slowed to a crawl - we on "our" side had a nice day with lots of sunshine and quite a strong föhn. I stripped the bedding, put it into the washing machine then hung it up on the terrace. It dried quickly in the strong winds and is back to the bed already. I did my own food run today, while hubby was off to do the same. The fridge is well-stocked again (with things we were in need of and some we did not need at all, now guess who´s bought these), and cake still has to be baked- there´s always tomorrow. We have Christmas cookies that need to get eaten, not a lot, but still! Curd and mascarpone can wait a few days more, as long as no one will open the packing. I did re-organise some furniture in the upper bathroom- put away the chair for changing and moved the scratcher to the back wall, so that blind cat won´t be tempted to try her luck and jump high up onto the window sill- this place has been one of her favourite ones, but getting up would be too big a hurdle now, and getting down might prove extremely dangerous. No need to sit there anymore, if you can´t see what´s going on. Sorry, Vaire, but it´s better this way! I also re-arranged the plants in the upper landing, according to the motto "old habits die hard", even with a cat. No way our blind lady would survive a trip along the railing! Not that Vaire would do much except for napping during day, but she livens up during night, I can hear her slinking up and down the stairs quite often, and her feeding dish gets cleared twice a night. Hubby put down the last of the Christmas lights save for the chain of lights in the apple tree. He thinks that too much costly energy gets wasted. I showed him a chart, which shows that the lights of a light hose (six weeks, five hours a day in operation) need as much energy as one tray of cookies baked at 200 degrees. I think that currently husband is estimating how many trays of cookies I have put in our oven during advent. There´s been quite a lot of them!
I started to make room in the studio for the new Playmobil police station. No way that one of our grandchildren will be able to play in the living room, as long as Vaire cat is alive. Bad enough that cat has a lot of problems with avoiding a run against things that have been there since aeons. Putting up new obstacles would be unfair!
Amazon delivered three small packages with more Playmobil. From now on my studio will turn into a general police office with police cars and a prison, supervised by a collection of Baby Borns and their fleet of vehicles. Hubby is dying to see what I have bought. Maybe he is afraid of having to assemble the pieces. Well, he will have to wait, until Cassian and Xaver will be here to open the packages.
The new thing with Amazon is that they put all parcels in front of the door without ringing the bell. And Alexa forgets about telling us, when the new shipment will arrive. She is supposed to do so ahead of delivery, not one day later! I should stop being lazy and go to my Amazon account more often for monitoring...
