The more, the merrier
Mar. 19th, 2023 06:42 pm Son got picked up at 7:30 last evening, had for dinner what we had had for lunch (spaghetti with sauce surprise- minced meat, sweet potatoes and a lot of chipotle for spicing up). We had a long talk, mostly about the cat that is no more, hubby had his crime thriller, I had two glasses of potent red wine, and just when I was tired enough to go to bed I noticed the sound of a helicopter flying nearby. Only that the darn thing flew around for almost two hours- somebody must have gone missing during a hike, done a climb onto the mountain nearby and fell, robbed a cash dispenser, how am I to know... Needless to say that I was not able to sleep for quite a time, with the noise of the helicopter´s rotor multiplied by the reflection from the rocky hills nearby! We all got up late because of this, and soon after breakfast came another surprise- number two invited himself and his family for coffee- they were just picking ramson for pesto near our house this morning. To liven my day up hubby invited the family for lunch. I went down to the fridge and brought up the piece of pork I had just put into the freezer- two adults and two children meant more meat needed. All in all we were six adults and two young ones for lunch. There are days when I am so very glad that I now have a bigger rice cooker than the last one!
Son complained that it is boring to rest in front of the TV without a pet. Well, that´s solely because the new vet was so adamant that bringing a younger cat into the house might cause some divergences (between the cats), and, as
curiouswombat ascertained, might end with the older cat wander off. We inherited two cats this way- Garfield was the first one and settled down with us, when our old vet got herself two more cats. And when he got hit by a car, Tuxedo cat followed in his wake because of the same reason. I have to say that our vet neighbour seemed blissfully unaware of what was going on with her cats- there have been two more of them, who decided that living under her roof was not worth the trouble and switched their dwelling place- Carlos and Willi, who found themselves new families in the neighbourhood. I still think that we would not have had the same problem, with our cats being house cats solely. Hissing fits yes, emigration no!
Daughter and family number two were off in the late afternoon, which was a good thing, because by then my ears were ringing (and it´s definitely not Cassian who is the loud one of the boys)! Despite feeling bereft of being able to pamper a pet, number four decided to go back to Graz tomorrow after lunch only- free meals must easily surpass general boredom! So much for a day without cooking, as I had planned to serve my husband yesterday´s leftovers, which last for one person only...
