April weather starting with May
Apr. 30th, 2023 06:51 pm First of April is the day even our idiot neighbour lets his equally idiotic twin sons (older than my oldest) out of the house for a beer or two. Always ends in disaster, because they aren´t used to drink, and we might get another spectacle to watch, like the one, when their daddy, dead-drunk and very wobbly on his legs, dragged out an old tape player, took a staff, turned on military marches and let his drunk sons parade for the half an hour hour- all three in pyjama pants, because it was eight in the evening, a time the family usually is in bed already. Sons, because they start work early, the father, because he starts his daily peeve-your-neighbours program even earlier. This year we might be spared such a sight, because the fine weather predicted for the first day of May we got today, while tomorrow there might be strong winds with rain coming in in the morning. One thing you can´t do with strong winds is put up a May pole. I hope they have learned from former accidents! I am not overly concerned, because I mostly stay clear of such events, where the main drink served is beer. But poor Cassian and hubby will have to wait for the pole and the beer (hubby only). Depends on the weather- it´s either one week or a whole year. And because we have not had rain enough in April (haha) the first half of May will behave like April. With sunny intermezzi, but still...
Cassian´s mum was off in the morning to meet with a friend. It was daddy´s job to cook. But Cassian wanted fish fingers so badly (never gets them, but often sees them in kindergarten, unfortunately only served to the day kindergarteners), and daddy did not find any in the fridge (no surprise) plus shops all closed here. Exception: Petrol stations. Granddad took his bicycle, pedalled to the shop at the petrol station, where he bought Cassian´s fave dish and brought it to him. Cassian happy, hubby exercising and me ecstatic, because I finally had an hour to myself. Yessss!!!
After lunch I found a report about ship wrecks on TV, only that I must have dozed off after some minutes, because when I woke I was at a farm. Boy, can I sleep as of late! The rest of the afternoon got spent with setting up a plan for knitting. Found the right measurements, did a gauge, will not knit in rounds but do a separate back- and front part, using the balls of wool which look most similar. I am not ecstatic about the change of colour in the wool itself, but Elsa will love it! The thing is that my eyes won´t tolerate the tiny fibres, so I will have to wear safety glasses when knitting. So glad that no one will see me!
Now I am awaiting two chairs DiL does not want anymore- one, the wing chair, is for us, the other is supposed to go to number three´s house. Means that it will be with us for quite a time, until it finds the way to its new home! I do not travel to Lower Austria so often. Would have been nice if DiL had brought the chair to us a good ten days ago!
