Waiting for Sunday
May. 16th, 2023 06:43 pm ...and the summerly temperatures that will come with it. I am so done with this year´s May! Today we had twelve degrees with hard rain, even though it did not make it into the conservatory this time. But looking out of the window I can see all neighbours having activated heating. Almost each household here has a fireplace, usually meant for heating in autumn. And as frowned upon as oil and gas as of late- just now, when many have switched to pellet heating system. Now EU politicians have gone completely mad! Do they want us to freeze to death, or do they have special and very secet contracts with producers of heat pumps, the most expensive of heating systems? I for one am glad that we have wood enough to burn, and if worst comes to worst we will install a second fireplace on the upper floor, too! Bite me, idiots!
Light was on almost all day long. Needless to say that we did continue with the jigsaw only around lunchtime, with hubby doing the cooking, me sorting the pieces by colour (am very good at that) and daughter putting them onto the right place, all the while listening to the American docent, who preferred to stay at home and do his lectures online. Not very interesting, but I so love it when someone talks English the way even I am able to follow! Poor guy must have been awake quite early to lecture on marketing, and his overly dramatic friend, too. At least we know now why baseball is on the way down (bad marketing, of course).
After jigsawing and lunch son number one with Xaver in tow showed up- just in time to keep me from napping. We had coffee and cake, Xaver reduced hubby´s stash of cookies to zero, and at four in the afternoon they were gone again. Xaver loves to come for a visit all of a sudden- he, who has always been the shy one, has found out that because of Cassian and Elsa there´s a lot of toys in our house he does not have at home, dolls and their clothes for instance. Xaver loves dolls, has loved them since he set foot (knees and hands) in playgroup for the first time. At the end of May he will turn five already- oh my, time does indeed fly! I vividly remember son´s call, when he told me that their second son had just been born. Now that had been what we had been waiting for, but not on the floor of their bathroom! Hubby, who always had son and DiL choose the boy´s presents, has promised Xaver that this time the two of them will drive to Smyths Toys, where he will be allowed to choose his birthday present on his own. Xaver is delighted. Finally!
Hubby has arranged a Greek lunch for me to do for family number two on Thursday. This way he will lure number two into helping him with removing the metal plates, which cover the swimming pool. I get goosebumps when thinking of bathing. Tomorrow we could be down to nine degrees during day- nope, I won´t put a foot out of the house. I am waiting for better days!
