When in the studio yesterday evening I listened to the gentle quaking coming from the neighbour's huge pond. Our ex-vet is now back to Germany, but her old house and the garden she has left behind are reminders of what has been dear to her once- the pond, the frogs, the kois... I think I will have to do an audio recording. Because- the gentle frog concert is nice. But at seven in the evening there's always one solist who does not fit into that sound- just like a heldentenor in a church concert! Man, that frog is loud! And in the morning there´s the choir of birds, mostly blackbirds, who sing really nice. But then there´s the crow that must croak from neighbour´s summer house directly opposite our bedroom window- the moment the crow starts her ´singing´, the other birds are off. Or mute. Or both. It´s awful! in this I am with Cassian- I hate crows. Today I had to chase one of the beasts off, when it was attacking daddy blackbird and his two young ones, who were hiding under my car. We definitely have an imbalance in our avian world- too many crows feeding on too few smaller singing birds!
Rain did win the race! Hubby did not turn the pool pump on, because salt master was not starting. He found the faulty piece and drove to our electrician. Meanwhile heaven decided that there was still too much water in stock and organised a downpour of epic proportions. Pool is full, too full, and the second pump pumps water into the sewer. Bye, bye, saltwater! Hello, rainwater!
I was out in the garden in the morning, when rain wasn´t so bad. Helped husband put the big pots for our future tomatoes to the right place along the car-port. We will need to build a cover in case we have rain (quite often) or hail, but otherwise we are ready for repotting. Still no cucumber plant, still no beans. And no mint. One cannot have everything...
Tomorrow daughter will come and help me with the jigsaw. Early shift day on Friday, hooray! That means that I finally can cook a meal I really like! At the moment hubby acts as a dictator when it comes to lunch and dinner- meals have to be mostly in the culinary tradition of his mother. If he won´t behave soonest, he will get meals in the culinary tradition of my mother! I wish him luck, I am on a diet anyway! And I do not even want to know why he brought watery baked beans à la Lidl into the house, when he knows that he is not to eat beans because of gout, and the only beans I like is Boston Baked Beans!
