Hectic preparations
Jul. 28th, 2023 06:02 pm As always, hubby turns into a nervous wreck the moment the arrival of family number three is imminent. Today he started an attempt at rearranging items in number four's room, because this is the place where half of family number three will live for four days. Number four will not be amused- it's still his room, and that all the guitars he possesses now have to live in the wet cellar he won't take well. I will have to bring them back up as soon as our guests have left! But the upper bathroom is sparkly now that all the tiles got wiped with diluted vinegar and disinfectants. Again, because I did so a few days ago, only without vinegar but window cleaner. I will have to use the other bathroom, until all the vapours are gone, or I will suffer from an asthma attack. Btw, hubby decided that he wanted Baba Ganoush. Good thing is that todays's weather was fine enough that I was able to spend the hour of roasting eggplants outside on the terrace, so no coughing and hacking was involved. Turned out that it was exactly the one hour I needed for roasting, before we got the next rainfall. It´s still fairly warm (23), but far from the blazing hot weather we were supposed to get this summer. When I read in today´s dailies that we still "might have a few days of weather suitable for bathing" I banged the newspaper onto the table and had a fit. It´s not even August, and they want to tell us that that´s all about summer?
Since I had to use up my selfmade pesto rosso I only had to cook noodles for lunch. Instead of doing a nap I thought that knitting outside might be nice- alas, project had to be translocated to the livingroom- still too wet outside. When I made me a cup of coffee I counted 13 flies on a windowpane- and maybe half as many on the other one. Hubby came to the rescue with a fly swatter- oh boy, that man can fight! I quickly brought some dishes to safety before they lost their life during hubby´s heroic battle. I counted over twenty dead flies afterwards and quickly disposed of them (and hid the swatter). Tomorrow I will have to buy those fly baits you put onto the windowpanes. I think it´s safer than let hubby do his swatter war dance!
And just in time I remembered that I had to drive to the bank and withdraw money for the candles and the chainlet and a dinner for son and wife as a birthday present. I wonder how many spiders I will meet on my way into my car. Those love to weave their nets between palm trees and door mirror. Yuck...
