All those last weeks I woke during night, because some sort of animal did a happy chase on the roof of our house. Hubby never did hear it. Today the ruckus started shortly after my tour de loo, and for the first time it was loud, really loud. Definitely two martens, not one. I woke hubby so that he could verify the sounds of small paws, back and forth, until it was allmost daybreak. Hubby had a lot of casting concrete to do at number two's house today, but tomorrow he will search the attic for excrements. If he finds some, marten has made it into the house, and we will get a live trap from DiL's uncle, who is a forester. I don't give a sh.. if catching a marten is forbidden, I want my nightly sleep back! Hubby will also search the attic of the garage. Marten shit is easy to identify. Those little monsters are gluttonous but always use the same place to do their job, and you know what that means...
Strange weather we hsve today- at three in the morning star-bright, then the wind freshened up, so that I had to get up and clear the terrace. Clouded all morning with plain sun at lunch-time. Now it's clouding over again. At least it's warm on the brink to hot, and with such temperatures Cassian is not allowed to have a sleepover at our house. I insist that our bedroom windows will stay open during warm nights. He insists on windows closed and dimmed. Why I am telling you this? DiL number two wanted to pass her sons on to us for a sleepover. Hubby declined, for which I am thankful. Imagine, two boys who are definitely bad sleepers! It has to be dark, it has to be silent, Flavius is used to getting up at five in the morning, and it takes forever to make him fall asleep! If I can choose, I will take the marten...
