When I got up this morning and made my coffee, it came out as a brownish sludge- the grinder is acting up again, the second day in a row, even though husband did a thorough cleaning and adjusting. Apparently the days of our coffee machine are numbered! Later husband brought his last tools down from the attic- and found a huge puddle of water up there. The roof hatch window must have died during summer. It´s crumbling, the glass is broken all of a sudden- definitely not good when winter is coming! The window in the anteroom is leaking, too. The roofer has already been assessing the problems. What we know is that the window in the attic has to be replaced soonest. The other one can wait until spring, at least the roofer says so. From his mouth to God´s ears- what will happen, if water spreads amidst the roof beams? I don´t even want to think about it! And because not only good things come in threes but bad, too, hubby´s chop saw fell apart, when he cut the wood I need for doing little cone trees for Christmas. Death by overstrain, hubby says, the branch, though definitely not a thick one, was too much for the geriatric saw!
I´d like to have foehn back- better suffer from a headache than from cold weather. We made it to four degrees only, a first greeting of the cold season, but a reminder why I do not like autumn, and winter even less! It hasn´t stopped raining yet, even though it was supposed to do so in the afternoon. I did not want to get out of the house but had to, because the bill for car service has arrived- almost nine hundred Euro- that´s a lot of money, because no repair work had been done! When driving home from the bank I had a look at the small brook which runs along the street. Well, small no more! A bit more of hard rain, and it will flood the street! Okay, brooklet does this stunt at least twice a year, but since there are always idiots on the way, who won´t reduce speed and land in the nearby field then, fire service will close off the main street and detour traffic to the narrow alternate route, a lot of tooting included.
Crocheting came to an abrupt halt, when I reached the Celtic Wave. I have unravelled more than thrice now and will do a probational patch now. Maybe then I will find the mistake I make...
PS: Found my error. Not that this row will get any easier. I always end up losing yarn-overs or end up with more loops on the hook (stitch number three of the cross, I love you...not). Row one was easier, but row two (four, six, eight) is the stuff nightmares are made of!
