Playing with sand
Nov. 8th, 2023 04:47 pm I was off to Germany in the late morning. There´s one part of the trip I love in autumn- a long, straight street lined with red-leafed trees. I have been there about two weeks ago- the trees were not yet ready to colour their leaves, because it had not been cold enough then. Today there was more brown than red to see, and a big part of the foliage was on the street already- so no pic today. I love to take pics of this street in autumn, because it´s so pretty, but not this year! I got my wool, I got my crafting utensil in the same shop, where I also bought the more expensive body care products number four likes but cannot afford. And I ended up with the same cashier as last time, the one who charged me for fifteen balls of wool when I had only ten. I noticed her error in time and got my money back at the main cash desk. Today I immediately checked the bill- everything okay with the wool. Not okay was that the cashier had charged me two bottles of quite expensive shampoo, when I had bought only one. But this I only noticed at home. Eight Euros lost, but this time I called the shop and complained about the cashier, a thing I´ve never done before. Well, there´s always a first time, but enough is enough! I think she´s either too dumb to do her job or does this on purpose. She´s definitely not suitable for this job!
At home I did not cook but served hubby Turkish pizza from the restaurant- don´t worry,
wiseheart, the sausages have been banned to the freezer! And then I marvelled at the two huge troughs with wet sand in the living room. Hubby has a new hobby which is called ´What, if´. This week´s What-if is the scenario of a flood that might make it into our cellar. So hubby has bought bags and gathered sand at the river to fill them. Naturally the sand is wet at this time of the year and needs a space to dry up for filling, which is the heated floor of our living room. I do not even want to know how many unwanted creatures will soon be swarming our house! Insect sprays have been placed strategically all over the house already! And I already dread Hubby´s next what-if! Honestly, old men are a strange species! Where do they get their ideas from?
I am happily crocheting along with my old squeaky crocheting hook, because the new one I had put into my shopping cart a few days ago never made it to the checkstand- must have deserted on the way there. How did that thing even know that there´d be a lot of work for it ahead? I´m at two thirds of the Celtic throw now, and already I have found two more I´d love to do! Crocheting can be addictive, but it´s definitely worse than knitting for my joints. With each passing day my fingers hurt more, when I get up in the morning. I will have to stock up on incense balm, which is the best thing to treat aching joints!
