Splish splash
Jul. 1st, 2024 07:59 pm Oh what fun to drive at 3:30 in the morning during a heavy downpour! Must not have been the first one during night, because the streets were so covered with puddles of water that I had to go slow this time- no need to provoke an accident! Schnuckele came dashing into our house twice- first, when w were about to leave (she got a bit of petting), then, when I came back. Now it was time for goodies- oh dear, the poor cat was soaked to the bone. How come that a cat gets so wet? Neighbour has a cat flap, so that the cats can get get into the house all time! My guess is that neighbour is on vacation, and it´s the shop staff who is to feed all the cats. Then poor Schnuckele oes not stand a chance against the bigger cats, and cat begins to roam. I let the cat in, fed her then put her onto her cozy cat blanket on the outdoor chair. She slept there till late morning. Cats are really strange animals.
Today was not made for outdoor activities, unless you were able to do your thing between two rain showers. Hubby even had the gall to hang the washing on the terrace. Not even twenty minutes later he had to carry everything into the house, the laundry freshly sprinkled with rainwater. No cooking got done today, we still had spareribs left from yesterday´s lunch. Today I found out that hubby also had bought a load of marinated pork I will have to fry tomorrow. Then I will freeze most of it for those days when I do not want to cook but have to. And I need a tortilla press- I do not like those wraps you can buy in the super markets! But tortillas are a splendid way to put such meat into!
In the afternoon I made two glasses of preserved lovage. Not my favourite condiment, but useful if you love soups of all kind. Then a bit of crocheting and doing crossword puzzles got done- in artificial light, which was on almost all day long. I so love our summers- either too hot or too wet. Albeit this year it´s too wet mostly, and only partially too hot in the part of the country I live. Might be the reason why we have been spared thunderstorms with big hailstones, like it happened in some parts of Lower Austria yesterday. Imagine, hailstones with seven centimetres diameter- bloody hell, there are villages where eighty percent of the roofs are demolished now!
Daughter is not amused. The trouble with Eurowings turns into a never ending story. Today they cancelled two flights to Germany, which happens more often than not, but definitely not when the check-in is already up and running. Then they sent a smaller plane for Rhodos, so that 30 people had no seat. They got booked onto other flights, only that no one told those people that these flights would lift off from Munich airport. And the plane to Hurghada was halfway there, when all of a sudden the galley got flooded, and the plane returned to Salzburg. And all that in the span of half a day. At least, next early morning shift will be on the fifth, so I have plenty of time to recover from grandson´s sleepover. Apparently Cassian has turned into the bane of his parents´ existence during night by being the lousiest sleeper ever. Let´s see where this goes! Until now there hasn´t been any problem, but you never know! At least, he won´t be able to complain about temperatures too high in the bedroom- it´s been only 17 degrees today, and with the windows open it feels comfortable again inside the house!

Today at four in the morning. My camera always adds a lot of light out from nowhere. It felt way darker...
