...in the space of a few hours. The first one died silently beneath our kitchen window, but the second one crashed against our terrace window with such a bang that I spewed my second coffee of the day all over the sudoku I was doing. Darn birds, always having their fights all day long! Our terrace window is situated under a balcony and totally not obstacle free- if a staple of red outdoor high-backed chairs aren´t enough from keeping those blasted birds off my terrace windows, then I don´t know what to do. Third bird crashed into the anteroom window at lunch time- our organic waste bin turns into an animal cemetary- mice, frogs, birds and lots of mole crickets and cockchafer grubs- hubby is at war with these!
Cassian did the walk to the loo twice during night. I did not dare to turn on my tablet PC afterwards, or he might get up again to have a look at what I was watching. The concept of read-only with such a device is yet alien to him, and apparently no one is allowed to watch video clips without his presence in front of the screen. I certainly won´t press my luck and have a five year old in my bed, who is up at three in the morning! At eight the boy was off, I did the obligatory search for toys stacked at unusual places, had a shower then did some crocheting and a few sudokus (love them!), only interrupted by the occasional walk to the organic waste bin to "bury" another dumb bird. After lunch I sneaked to the bedroom for a combination of nap-read-nap, or so I thought. Son number one had other ideas- he showed up with Xaver and Oscar in tow. Oscar has a sleepover in school with his classmates tonight and needs special goodies- their teacher ordered pizza for all, but never ever has this boy eaten pizza! Friday it´s school report day in our part of the country, the last day Oscar will meet his friends and foes. None of them will attend the same school Oscar will go to in autumn. Our grandson is a bit sad about this. End of primary school is a big turning point for the young ones, even though it got marginally better with at least half of the children having mobiles now! I think last day of school will be the big lets-swap-numbers day! Son stayed until four, when hubby had to leave- he was to pick Cassian up and fetch the plane he bought for him yesterday. Secondhand, of course! I am almost ashamed, but I have to admit that I told husband mine that I wanted neither plane nor grandson in our house today- and it worked!
