Yesterday we had a row of thunderstorms going through, bringing a vast amount of rain. Rain did not make it into the cellar, because hubby has rerouted the gutters, and the water will go down on the other side of the garage, where there´s a sewer cover and no stair leading downwards. Hubby and I made ourselves at home in front of the TV, the terrace door open to let the cool air in between thunderstorms. In came Schnuckele, dripping wet, jumped onto my lap, did some marginal grooming then wandered off to the next sofa, where lady cat slept through the next bout of rain. We chucked her out during half time then continued watching. Ten minutes later there was a ruckus in front of the terrace door- cat had brought a fledgling, which was piping for dear life. There´s not much you can do in such a situation- hubby grabbed the bird with a paper towel and put it out onto the cover of the trailer. We heard the bird for a short time, then cat must have gotten at it again. Today the cat´s owner wants to come for a visit to discuss how to proceed with her precious Schnuckele. Cat does show up at her house only to feed then will be off again. She will show up in our guestroom, number four´s room, our bedroom even, and of course, the living room area. Nights get spent at the "attic" of the garage, amongst all the clutter husband mine is hoarding up there. There won´t be a solution to the problem, cat does not love her home because of her very dominant offspring at the owner´s house, and I won´t keep my doors closed, because I love fresh air, and summer is short, in case we get a summer at all. What I dislike most is the fact that I have to examine the bedrooms before I leave the house. Where are all the keys to the doors when I need them? Darn cat is very good at opening unlocked doors by jumping onto the handles! After the birdie episode I was done with watching TV and went to bed, slept until seven then got up. First thing I found downstairs was Schnuckele scratching at the terrace door and a lot of birdie feathers that weren´t there yesterday evening...
The whole morning was dedicated to lunch-planning. Because it´s not only lunch I had to cook. Lunch for two people is easily done. But said lunch also has to serve as dinner for number four (visiting) and daughter (next early shift), as a midnight snack for number four (make it a two-in-the-morning snack), tomorrow´s lunch brought to her home by daughter, and, if god has mercy on me, leftovers for hubby and son, too. I do not want to spend the next three days cooking all around the clock! Bad enough that I had to dig the big pots up from their hiding place in the cellar. Today it was 1,6 kilo of minced meat I made into meat loaf...
Hubby did open the pool only in the late afternoon then left to some unknown place. The moment he was off cat was back. Now I need a new eraser- cat has shredded mine. I am not amused!
