No tropical night for me...
Sep. 6th, 2024 07:15 pm I was seriously thinking that this night would turn into the first tropical night this year. It was 23 degrees outside until four in the morning, when finally a cooling breeze set in and brought temperatures down to 18 in the space of an hour. With the cool temperatures came quite strong winds, which made the bedroom climate acceptable to husband (I do not mind sleeping at warm temperatures, have been practising this during summer since I was a kindergartener). The ensuing noise of it was remarkable- hubby slept like a babe, I wallowed around, till I finally fell asleep despite the cacophony of sounds. Anyway, I had strange dreams then- one involved the missing red pool noodle, which appeared cleaved in two halfs, the other neighbour's pool which got pumped out in preparation of the cold season. Turned out my dreams led me into the right direction- pool noodle is dead (hubby someone must have run it over with something sharp, probably a lawn mower) and neighbour started to prepare his pool for hibernation this morning.
Since daughter postponed her coming once again I started the base for ramen by doing the broth. Hubby has begun preparation work for next bacon season, so we had bones aplenty for the soup. A quick lunch with pulled pork it was, while the broth simmered on the stove top for three hours straight- too short, I know, but I wanted to be off to the shops beyond the border. I dressed for the meagre temperatures we had then- 19 degrees. Long trousers, long-sleeved blouse it was. The moment I was off, temperatures began to climb rapidly. Sun was out all of a sudden, and I was sweating like a pig then. Aircon in the shops? If yes, the customers won´t notice. They are not in the shop to catch a cold must be the name of the game. God, it was awful. So many people in the shops, long rows at the cash desks- kinda logical, because school will start in Bavaria on Monday, too, only I forgot about it. But I found some nice grey wool for the knitted coat I want to do for Elsa. The moment the temperatures will stay under twenty I will start with knitting- preferably next week, when we will do a header into autumn!
