Hubby started the day early, while I read until after eight. Bad enough that tomorrow I will be have to be off at seven, first to pick up fresh pretzls and rolls then do a two and a half hour drive to son number three. I have set an alarm to remind me to not forget Frankfurter and Weißwürste in the fridge- otherwise we'd have two weeks of bland sausage diet. Husband will be the one who son number two will travel with- his back row in the car is free of tools while mine is not.
DiL managed to sneak Flavius in after his daily kindergarten hour. The boy has a veritable cold, and I am pretty sure I'll get one, too. He has been tied to my aprons strings all the time. But he helped me cooking stewed quinces. Unfortunately I had to cook the quinces thrice, to get an acceptable result. The third time I almost forgot about the quinces, and the sugar had started to caramelise. Of course, dumb as I am, I had to taste the caramel. I have a huge blister on the roof of my mouth now. So I went upstairs, to spend my after-lunch rest in mourning. Only that I heard the voice of daughter´s godmother in the garden and went down dutifully, to do some small talk. She was here with her dog. Dog had already made short process of the cat food I had put outside- cat mom is currently on vacation and asked me to put aside some kibble for Schnuckele. Will do so again in the evening. Dog also tried to get to the Spekulatius cookies stored on the microwave. And since I caught dog in time it wandered around in the garden and came back with a mouse, which it devoured with gusto. Dog will have to sleep in godmother´s vestibule today- she thinks that the mouse won´t stay inside the dog. Eeek- we had three dogs, but none of them was ever interested in eating mice!
