I read long into the night yesterday evening, not ready for sleep first, and the moment I was husband mine came to bed and started snoring the moment his head hit the pillow. Tablet number one- the new, shiny one I use for surfing mostly- got diescarded when I had a look at its state of charge. I turned to tablet number two and continued with very boring lecture in hope that sleep would come back. After a fruitless hour of reading a very boring novel and an equally dissatisfying charging state I turned to my mobile for more interesting stuff (you know, the one which makes me howl with laughter) apparently for too long, because I got the red warning- charge, please... I told myself that tomorrow (okay, the oncoming morning) was soon enough for it and slept for the rest of the night. After breakfast and some half-heartedly attempts at doing housework I noticed my husband´s and car´s absence. So preparing lunch it was, I told myself and opened the fridge- and was confronted with darkness. No electricity in the whole house- what a bummer! I called hubby, who was on his way back from bringing a flower arrangement for All Saints´ Day to the cemetery. Not even hubby deigned to do this by bicycle, though it surely would have drawn the attention of bypassers- that thing was huge! And blue. Very blue. Unfortunately. Hubby called the electricity supply company. At least, he tried. I think half of the residents here did, that´s why he wasn´t successfull. We had to wait almost two hours to get electricity back. Meanwhile my mobile and tablet number one had bidden goodbye. After the blackout hectic charging started. Never again, I told myself, will I wait this long to do so!
I started with lunch afterwards- a simple affair of relieving the fridge of things which needed immediate processing. I cut sausages, onions and peppers. Since hubby was working on the space the old fridge had been stored (will get turned into a compartment for tableware) I absently nibbled at the slices of pepper- uh, wow! I opened a sachet of gummi bears the boys had failed to noticem, but the burning sensation in my mouth did not recede. Hubby fed my a glass of milk, then I marched to the bathroom to scrub my hands. Darn, that definitely had been no peppers but chillies, and spicy ones at that! Needless to say that I put only half of them into the sauce...
Just when I thought I´d be able to chill away what was left of Sunday my tooth started to act up again- the one I got crowned not so long ago, the same one the dentist thinks has a rotting nerve hidden beneath. I do have another dentist appointment tomorrow and will have to discuss what to do now. Grr, I hate it when such sh.. happens!
