It was eleven degrees outside today, which is warmer than yesterday. Hubby has kindled a fire in the woodstove, but since it will get colder again tomorrow we will have to turn gas heating on in the evening- it's barely 19 degrees in the living room and 17 in the bedrooms. I so love this year's early Ice Saints! At least nights aren't as cold as in Germany!
Hubby quit de-tiling the terrace, he sports a running nose- no wonder, since he has been working outside in the cold! He brought my car to the repair shop for the changing of tyres. Tomorrow he will be off with it, to pick up the doors for number two's shed, which still needs construction work- means that son now has the doors but no shed yet. Worst thing is that hubby has to drive more than two hours to get them.
Daughter called, she will come for a visit tomorrow. She has been in Vienna for five days, to visit the friends she will meet up with in Japan in September. We will have to plan some sight seeing for our stay in London. We also have to do another shopping trip to Germany- toiletries and- tada- fish, preferably on May 16th. Cassian will have an early birthday party with friends on the 17th of May. Grandparents and auntie are invited, too. Especially grandma and auntie- we are the ones who will do the sushi Cassian wants for the party. Honestly, I do not think that the other young ones will be interested in raw fish. I might have to add some California rolls with chicken!
I have been mostly crocheting today after doing household chores. I wanted the darn shawl finished, before warmer weather will be back, together with nmore blisters. And I succeeded! All I have to do now is the darning in of threads, which will get done tomorrow. BTW, I stopped the time I needed for the last row (slip stitches only around the border)- 30 minutes for about 700 stitches. Though I have to admit I am quicker with single crochets than slip stitches. Alas, I did not have enough cyan-coloured wool. T´was the second run against wool shortage- I ended the last row in beige with scarcely two metres left. Lucky me!
I only ate half of today´s lunch- cannot stand the acidity of dried tomatoes, which hubby wanted in the sauce for today´s noodles. Poured it over the chicken fillet, which was a big, big fault. One should not eat what one cannot tolerate. Good that there´s pills against stomach ache in the medicine cabinet, thanks to number three and wife visiting regularly and consuming meals way too big!
In the evening a carpenter will have a look at our terrace- hubby wants it canopied. The glass alone will cost around 3500 euro- I am not so sure if it´s worth the expense. But with summers like ours it might be nice to sit outside while having coffee, listening to the rain coming down...
