So we wait for better weather
May. 9th, 2025 06:53 pm It did not get any warmer today- still eight degrees outside, four less than promised. Poor hubby is running back and forth between living room and garage, to bring in more wood briquettes. Those things are really heavy, and we need quite a lot of them at the moment. Sneezing has retired, but the cough, oh the cough- it got worse during night. I have always had problems with respiratory infections, but it gets worse with every passing year. Monday I will be at the doctor´s office. There has to be something which will shorten the healing process!
Not much got done by me today, contrary to husband mine, who even continued with the de-tiling of the terrace. Tomorrow the noisy work should be done, then comes the abrading of the concrete, and then we´ll wait for the new tiles to arrive. Such orders have gone off without a hitch, until covid stroke and economic system went haywire. These days orders may or may not arrive in time, and there´s nothing one can do. Same applies to the workmen. It´s frustrating!
We still had leftover soup, and hubby did fish and chips sans mushy peas ( :(( )- he got cod on special offer. Daughter helped with the cooking while I had to stay away from her- she does not want my cough germs near. Even wanted me to do the crossword puzzles alone, which is a first. After napping she booked the Van Googh exhibition and two days Hop on Hop off in London. Not so sure if we will take oyster card or daily tickets for public transport on the remaining days. I have decided that I also want to do a visit to Minalima- love their artwork. The books are fabulous, grandchildren like them. Maybe I will invest in some art prints, button badges and the like. Daughter wants us to do the visit before we attend the musical. Two musicals, exactly. If my cough will be mild enough to attend...
After booking daughter went shopping then back to her flat. She will be back on Sunday- Mother´s Day in our country. Hubby bought steak and did not bother with hiding the flowers- red and white this year. After all that rain we had the last days the sun peeked out of its hiding place at six in the evening, at least for a short while. I so hope that tomorrow´s weather will be good enough to gift me some time outside. Fresh air and balmier temperatures will surely do me good- sitting inside next to a woodstove definitely not so much...
